Friuli Venzia Giulia (FVG) covers the picturesque Valley of Friuli descending from the Alps foothills to the blue waters of Adriatic Sea.

It is a completely unforgettable region, still almost entirely to be discovered by nature, art and history lovers. FVG is one of very rare Italian regions not yet overcrowded by tourist groups from all over the world.

FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA

From wine lover’s point of view, it is to be noted that the best Italian white wines are produced in this area, while the winemakers are applying in the production processes, the most modern and advanced technologies, always strongly backed up by thousands years old winemaking traditions.

Probably the most remarkably appellation here, seems to be Colli Orientali del Friuli (COF), which features the greatest number of native wine species in Italy today. Malvasia, Picolit, Pignolo, Refosco dal Penducolo Rosso, Refosco Nostrano, Ribolla Gialla, Schioppettino, Tazzelenghe, Tocai Friulano and Verduzzo Friulano are the native vine species cultivated in the COF region. These wines can boast of over 2 000 years of documented history, since the Romans established the first colony in the region of Aquileia. The COF production regulations feature the greatest number of native vine species in Italy today.

Not to forget amazing hospitality of the Friulians, who apart of the fact, that they like to write romantic poems, speak a different language from Italian.
